DOH Backs ‘Lab for All’ Program in Ilocos Sur
CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur — The Department of Health has thrown its full support behind the “Lab for All” program, which offers free laboratory services, medical consultations, and health education to communities nationwide.
The latest leg was held Aug. 12, 2025 in Candon City.
The program, spearheaded by the Office of the First Lady in partnership with national government agencies, aims to bring healthcare closer to underserved areas through mobile laboratory units and coordinated medical missions.
Services include blood chemistry, urinalysis, x-ray, and other diagnostic tests at no cost.
“Our goal is to ensure that no Filipino is left behind when it comes to healthcare,” First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos said. “By supporting the ‘Lab for All’ program, we are breaking barriers to access and giving communities the medical attention they deserve, as promised by our President.”
DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa said the agency provided technical assistance, manpower, and logistical support to strengthen the program’s reach.
“This collaboration reinforces the DOH’s commitment to the Universal Health Care Law, ensuring that every citizen has access to quality and affordable health services,” he said.
The Candon City activity marked the fourth “Lab for All” event in the Ilocos Region since its launch in Ilocos Norte last year, followed by stops in Pangasinan and La Union.
About 1,500 residents from Ilocos Sur’s second congressional district and nearby towns received free laboratory tests, consultations, and health counseling.
The DOH-Ilocos regional office also distributed 30 assistive devices, including wheelchairs, canes, and walkers for persons with disabilities, along with free medicines.
Herbosa said the department will continue to work with partner agencies to sustain and expand the program nationwide.
