SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro: The local government of San Jose has disbursed financial assistance of P7,000 pesos to each of 214 hog raisers whose livestock died due to African Swine Fever (ASF) or natural causes during the height of the outbreak in the province.

The aid, provided under the leadership of Mayor Rey Cajayon Ladaga with support from Vice Mayor Sonny Javier and municipal council members, aims to help affected farmers restart their livelihoods.

Municipal Agriculturist Romel Calingasan said the funds are intended for purchasing piglets to resume hog raising, with the local agriculture office monitoring the process.

The rehabilitation program seeks to revive the local hog industry, which was severely impacted by ASF, and restore its vitality in San Jose and Occidental Mindoro province.
