SAN FERNANDO, Camarines Sur — The municipal council here has condemned the brutal killings of sisters Claudette and Kiela Divina Gracia and called for a swift and impartial investigation.

The Sangguniang Bayan approved the resolution on Monday. It was introduced by Councilor Allan Valenzuela.

The resolution urges the San Fernando Municipal Police Station and relevant agencies to expedite the probe to ensure the immediate arrest and prosecution of the suspect.

Authorities identified the suspect as Marfe Hufancia, Claudette’s live-in partner, who is considered the primary person responsible. The sisters were found dead in a barangay in nearby Naga City on Dec. 7, 2025.

The measure states the local government’s duty to ensure the safety, dignity and human rights of all citizens, particularly women. It cites Republic Act 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, which classifies such violence as a public crime.

The council expressed its condolences to the Divina Gracia family. It stated the incident has instilled deep fear and concern within the community, reinforcing the need for stronger action against all forms of violence.

Led by Valenzuela, the council called on authorities to prevent a culture of impunity. A copy of the resolution will be sent to the family as a formal gesture of solidarity.
