CEBU—A proposal to build a world-class sports complex in Cebu has received strong support from the provincial government and partner agencies.

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro met with officials from the Philippine Sports Commission and MTD Philippines on March 18 to discuss the 20-hectare project, which is envisioned as a training and competition hub for athletes in the Visayas.

PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio said the agency is ready to fund the project, which could serve as one of the venues for the 2028 Asian Beach Games. Plans include international-standard facilities and a Provincial Government Center.

A final location has not yet been determined, but Dumanjug Mayor Gungun Gica has offered 30 hectares of land should his municipality be selected.
