Bogo City launches Christmas night market to spur local economic recovery
Bogo City, Cebu, Philippines – The city of Bogo in Cebu will launch a Christmas Night Market this weekend, an initiative officials say is designed to support local businesses and symbolise community resilience following recent economic challenges and natural disasters.
The market will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 5 p.m. local time at the City of Bogo Heritage Square on Plaza Road.
In a statement, city organisers framed the event as a concerted effort to aid recovery. “Despite recent trials and calamities, the Bogohanon family will continue to move forward together,” the announcement said. “Opening our Christmas Night Market in the first week of December aims to provide opportunities for the local business sector and support rebuilding after the challenges faced by our economy and livelihoods in recent months.”
The market will provide space for local artisans, small business owners, and entrepreneurs to showcase products and talents. Officials said it is also intended to help preserve jobs while businesses and employees repair damaged infrastructure.
Promoting a “Buy Local, Support Local” campaign, the city hopes the night market will serve as a “beacon of light” to help revive the local economy.
The event is tagged online with #Pasko2K25 and #BangonBogo, which means “Rise, Bogo.”
